Basic Mission Finance The ministry through which we participate in the mission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).  Supports ministeries in North America and 86 countries around the world.  Projects include mentoring programs, youth intern ministries, low cost loans for retrofitting churches to accommodate wheelchairs, support for over 200 missionaries in other countries, start-up resources for new congregations and more.
We support Basic Mission Finance through general giving and with special offerings over and above our weekly tithes and offerings at Easter, Pentecost, Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Week of Compassion Disciples' Week of Compassion offerings provide emergency disaster relief, humanitarian aid to refugees and other displaced people, long-term assistance for recovery and development and support of basic needs such as food, shelter, tools, medicines and literacy.
We collect a special Week of Compassion offering in February.  In 2001, our terrorism relief offering also supported the Week of Compassion Disaster Relief Fund.
Volunteer opportunities abound
The needs are great and many types of opportunities are available.
We're happy to facilitate the match between your skills and interests and the many needs in Polk County and with organizations that benefit people in other countries.  Please also let us know which organizations you volunteer for to assist us in outreach planning.
