Christian Education
Sunday School for grades 6-12 is held each Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m.
Learning methods include Bible study, group discussions and videos
designed for young people. Fun,
fellowship and donuts are often included, too!
Youth Group
All youth in grades 6-12 are encouraged to participate in the Sunday
afternoon youth group activities. Following
morning worship, the group shares lunch together in the fellowship hall and then
enjoys a time of recreation, fun and games.
The Bible study or program activity concludes by 2:30 p.m.
Annually, the youth of the church lead worship for the congregation on Youth Sunday. They
write, prepare, practice and then lead in every aspect of the service.
The group also works to raise funds
for summer camp, including preparing church luncheons and a bidding auction each
spring. The young people look
forward to the Easter week Prayer Retreat
(a 12 hour experience at the church) as they prepare to welcome the Risen
Christ. They enjoy service projects for the church and the community include picking
fruit for the elderly, sorting food at the food pantry, singing carols at the
nursing home, hugging puppies at the guide dog center, etc.
The summer ski excursions, concerts and swim parties are always a hit!
Vacation Bible School
The teenagers are included in the summer VBS experience where they sharpen
their drama skills. Short skits are
prepared each night and then shared with the total group – great experience in
stage presence and public speaking.
Summer Church Camp
A week of exciting, life-changing camp is offered to those in grades 3-12
each summer at the Christian Church Conference Center in Silver Springs.
Those in high school are also invited to attend the weekend events of
Jigsaw (for leadership training) and the Christian Youth Fellowship Assembly in
the spring.
Mission/Work Trip
Most summers, a work trip for intensive spiritual growth while serving
people in need is offered. In
previous years, the youth have participated in disaster and poverty relief work
and outreach in North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky and the Florida Keys.
Florida Disciples Youth
